    CONSTRUCTION UPDATES SEPTEMBER 2010

    17 September 2010

    • Excavation of the basement beneath One Central Park, the terraces and adjoining buildings is well underway. Basements extend between 4 and 6 levels underground, so this is a substantial excavation task.
    • There are 6 excavators, 2 bulldozers and 2 piling rigs on site at the moment. You may have noticed hoses spraying a fine mist of water into the air on dry days - this is a dust control practice, designed to keep dust and dirt within the site.
    • The detention tank under the main park is now complete. Work continues on the main outlet pipe which connects the detention tank to the stormwater system. Night works along Abercrombie Street are ongoing, and will continue for approximately 3 months.
    • Frasers are about to appoint the civil contract for roads and traffic lights. This major infrastructure work includes widening and re-aligning O'Connor Street (including undergrounding the power lines on O'Connor Street), and new road construction within the Central Park precinct.
    • New traffic lights will be installed at the intersection of O'Connor and Abercrombie Streets, and the intersection of Kensington and Regent Streets. If all proceeds to schedule, these new traffic lights will be completed around Christmas 2010.
