Introduction

With Chippendale Green – the ‘park’ in Central Park – right on its doorstep, an intimate connection to gardens is intrinsic to life at Park Lane. The greenery, views and ambience it provides affords opportunities for recreation and relaxation in equal measure. The eclectic character of the back streets of surrounding suburbs like Chippendale will also be brought into the park area, along with it’s sense of community.

Parklands

Danish landscape architect Jeppe Aagaard Andersen has designed open environments throughout Europe, Asia and Australia. Collaborating with Turf Design, they’ve created the lush, tranquil heart of Central Park – Chippendale Green. The view from Park Lane's west-facing apartments will embrace a large expanse of lawn bisected by a low-lying, softly illuminated water feature, surrounded by advanced trees and shaded seating. At its centre will be "Halo", a monumental kinetic sculpture designed by Jennifer Turpin and Michaelie Crawford (artists and Central Park's public art consultants) gently undulating in the breeze.

"Central Park will be a place for people to come together. It’s a safe, social space – a green haven in a busy urban environment. It will be a great place to replenish the spirit.” Mike Horne, Turf Design

“You will find yourself in a place where you are not near cars, where you can only hear voices, and thee are chairs, benches, trees and flowers. If you are working and living in the city, you need these breaks.” Jeppe Aagaard Andersen

Interior Gardens

As a collaboration that has worked on large scale public domain projects both domestically and internationally, Aspect / Oculus bring their formidable experience to bear on the interior gardens of Park Lane.

Their vision is to bring highly usable and visually interesting approach to the private landscape areas of the residential buildings, with a combination of plants, materials and active spaces that not only reflect the park itself but create dynamic, high quality landscapes to be enjoyed by Park Lane residents.

The communal rooftop gardens will consist of a number of signature ‘Garden Rooms’, each with their own character and use, containing such facilities as outdoor spas, BBQ facilities, communal tables and seating. Here there will be opportunities for residents to collect and even plant their own herbs, encouraging a sense of ownership and community participation in the gardens.
